It Is Good to Give Thanks - Psalm 92:1
See All...
INTRODUCTION
“What is the will of God for my life?” serves as one of the most oft asked questions by Christians. Unfortunately, far too many Christians complicate their search and fail in their desperate attempts to find God's will for their lives. They invest considerable time and energy looking for a field of service. All the while, they fail to notice the plain truth revealed in the scriptures concerning God's will. The truth is likely very simple. The Bible declares it good to give thanks unto the Lord and failure to do what is good is sin (James 4:17Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
See All...). It stands to reason, therefore, that giving God thanks serves as one of the most basic ways for man to obey the will of God. “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
See All...). Conclusion: Giving God thanks serves as the simplest way to fulfil God's will in a Christian's life.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For children): Learn this poem: “Jesus healed ten lepers (hold up all ten fingers); they were very glad (put a big smile on your face); but nine did not say, ‘Thank you’ (shake your head and hold up nine fingers); and that made Jesus sad (frown).” Now read Luke 17:12-18 [12] And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
[13] And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
[14] And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
[15] And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
[16] And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
[17] And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
[18] There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
See All.... - (For everyone): What does God want you to do for Him? Are you called to serve in missions, or to preach, or teach, or to serve in some other field of service? Have you been faithful in doing the things you already know to do?
- Since it is right to offer heartfelt thanks to the Lord, then it is sin when we fail to do so. Have you ever felt it necessary to repent of the sin of unthankfulness? Do you ever ask the Lord to forgive and to cleanse you?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to forgive you for not thanking Him.
- Ask the Lord to give you a heart of thankfulness.
