I Will Never Leave Thee - Hebrews 13:5
See All...
INTRODUCTION
God offered man the greatest statement of loyalty when Christ promised never to leave the believer. The Lord did not promise some type of reciprocating loyalty conditioned upon man’s loyalty toward Him. Rather, the Lord promised He will “never leave . . . nor forsake.” Man’s frailty offers God numerous reasons and opportunities to justify leaving and forsaking, but God’s character overrides man’s frailty. If the Lord promises loyalty, He fulfils that promise without requiring reciprocity. According to 2 Peter 3:9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
See All..., “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise.” Once a man is born again, he becomes a child of God and immediately becomes the beneficiary of promised loyalty given to him by the Son of God.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For children): The Lord will always be there for you (Psalm 37:28For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
See All...). He was there for David when his men turned against him (1 Samuel 30:6And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
See All...). When others forsook Paul, the Lord was there for him (2 Timothy 4:16-17 [16] At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. [17] Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
See All...). - (For everyone): What have you done to earn this promise of loyalty from the Lord Jesus Christ? How has He earned your loyalty? Does He actually have your loyalty?
- What does it mean to you that the Lord will NEVER leave you? When is the last time you meditated upon the Lord’s faithfulness to you?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to teach you the true meaning of loyalty.
- Thank the Lord for promising never to leave you.
