I Thought on My Ways
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Life is a journey. Oftentimes, people spend the bulk of their lives going in the wrong direction. To some degree this is the testimony of the psalmist. In Psalm 119:59I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.
See All..., he says, "I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies." At some point, the psalmist examined his "ways." When he did so, he found he was heading in a direction that was contrary to the will of God. Upon his consideration, he determined to turn his feet unto the Lord’s testimonies. Had he never taken the time to think upon his ways, he would never have repented. This truth is confirmed in Lamentations 3:40Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.
See All... where the Bible says, "Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD."
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) The Bible says the prodigal son "came to himself." That means he thought about what he had chosen to do and where it led him. He did the right thing by returning to his father who was ready to receive him (Luke 15:17-20 [17] And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
[18] I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
[19] And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
[20] And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
See All...). - When is the last time you paused to consider your ways? Did you find your feet had strayed from the testimonies of the Lord? Did you turn your feet to follow Him?
- How can believers use the Bible in order to think upon their ways? How often should believers be willing to do a self-examination?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to help you examine your ways.
- Ask the Lord to guide you to walk in His testimonies.
