How Many Meals Should Be Eaten? - Judges 19:5
See All...
INTRODUCTION
The various dieting trends push for several additional times that man should eat. The Bible clears up any question concerning the number of meals an individual should eat in a single day. Believers should be very careful not to accept the latest trends as though they are the best or even from the Lord. Within scripture, one finds someone partaking of the meal commonly called breakfast (Judges 19:5And it came to pass on the fourth day, when they arose early in the morning, that he rose up to depart: and the damsel's father said unto his son in law, Comfort thine heart with a morsel of bread, and afterward go your way.

[30] And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For children): Job called food “necessary” (Job 23:12Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
See All...b). We need it for strength and health. Consider the following Bible stories: 1 Kings 19:5-8 [5] And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. [6] And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again. [7] And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee. [8] And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
See All...; Luke 8:52-55 [52] And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. [53] And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. [54] And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. [55] And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.
See All...; Acts 27:33-38 [33] And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing. [34] Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you. [35] And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat. [36] Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat. [37] And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls. [38] And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.
See All.... - (For everyone): What is the purpose of food? When should people eat? What happens when people eat too much? Do they gain more strength or feel more sluggish?
- Why is it important to allow the Bible to be your authority in all matters including your diet? Is it possible that God knows more about the body than the modern doctors and scientists?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Thank the Lord for the strength He gives you through meals.
- Ask God to help you find the proper balance in your diet.
