Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit
Is the HOLY GHOST and the HOLY SPIRIT the same?
Yes, the Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit are One and the same. This can be seen by comparing 2 different accounts of the same incident. In John 1:32And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
See All... we are told that the Spirit descended upon the Lord Jesus Christ—“And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.” In a parallel passage, Luke 3:22And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
See All... tells us that it was the Holy Ghost that descended upon the Saviour—“And the Holy Ghost
descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”
We can also see this illustrated in John 7:38-39 [38] He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
[39] (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
See All.... “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” In this passage, we are told that the Spirit was a Being that believers would some day receive, but they could not receive the Spirit because the Holy Ghost hadn’t been give yet.
Here is one more example: 1 Corinthians 12:3Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
See All.... “Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.” Here Paul makes it clear that the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost are the same because the Spirit would not lead a man to say that Jesus Christ was accursed. Conversely, the Holy Ghost would lead a man to say that Jesus is the Lord.
