INTRODUCTION

One does not have to read very far into the Bible before reading where God had respect unto one man while refusing to respect another (Genesis 4:4-5 [4] And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: [5] But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

Those who are careless students of the Bible might think the Bible contradicts itself when it states that the Lord is not a respecter of persons and also declares that He had respect unto certain individuals. It is very important that the Bible student consider that God does respect, but only when there is a cause for that respect. According to Psalm 138:6Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.
See All..., the LORD hath “respect unto the lowly.” This truth is reiterated in Isaiah 66:2For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
