God Hates Sin - Deuteronomy 9:18
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Sin angers God. It provokes Him to jealousy (1 Kings 14:22And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.

See All..., "God is angry with the wicked every day." He "trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth" (Psalm 11:5The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

See All...; 1 John 5:17All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
See All...). Sin grieved the Lord so strongly in the days of Noah that it repented Him that he had made man on the earth (Genesis 6:6And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
See All...). Sin is so offensive to God the Bible declares God to be "of purer eyes than to behold evil" (Habakkuk 1:13Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
See All...). One day, God will create an environment that excludes sin of any kind (Revelation 22:15For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) God hates all sin (Psalm 5:4-5 [4] For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
[5] The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
See All...; Proverbs 6:16-19 [16] These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: [17] A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, [18] An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, [19] A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
See All...; Ephesians 5:5-6 [5] For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [6] Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
See All...). Any sin can be forgiven, but it has to be through the blood of Christ (Colossians 1:14In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
See All...; 1 Peter 1:18-19 [18] Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; [19] But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
See All...; 1 John 1:7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
See All...; Revelation 1:5And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
See All...). Call upon Him today (Romans 10:9-10 [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
See All..., 13; Acts 16:31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
See All...). - Sin is exceedingly sinful in the eyes of God. How does this affect His dealings with man? How should the fact that God hates sin cause men to fear?
- Are you saved? Should you continue to sin because you have been redeemed by the Lord? How should your love for Him cause you to hate what He hates?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask God to help you hate sin as He does.
- Call upon God’s forgiveness for your sins.
