God Had Respect unto Them - Exodus 2:25

God Had Respect unto Them - Exodus 2:25

INTRODUCTION

No doubt God’s relationship with Israel was completely unique. Yet, everyone should understand that God did not choose to allow the Israelites to be saved while thrusting the rest of the world into hell. God chose to give His laws and statutes to Israel, but He also manifested Himself to others as the scripture clearly describes. Additionally, one must not fail to recognize the special relationship God established with Israel. He “looked upon the children of Israel, and . . . had respect unto them” (Exodus 2:25). In establishing His covenant with Israel, God promised them He would have respect unto them, make them fruitful, multiply them, and establish His covenant with them (Leviticus 26:9).

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For children): God started the nation of Israel with Abraham and promised Abraham a people and a land forever (Genesis 12:1-3; Genesis 13:15-17). Through this nation, God gave us His word and our Saviour (Romans 9:4-5).
  • (For everyone): Read Deuteronomy 7:7-8. Why did the Lord have respect unto Israel? To whom did the Lord make promises? How is it wrong when New Testament saints seek to steal these promises rightfully belonging to the nation of Israel?
  • Did God’s respect for Israel insure them entrance into heaven? How is it wrong to suggest that respect equals salvation?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Thank God for keeping His promises to the Jewish people.
  • Ask the Lord to remind you of His faithfulness.
