Fretting Because of Others
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Though the Bible warns against it, believers fret over others. Believers should not fret "because of evildoers" (Psalm 37:1Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
See All...), or "because of him who prospereth in his way (Psalm 37:7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
See All...), or "because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass" (Psalm 37:7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
See All...), or "because of evil men" (Proverbs 24:19Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked:
See All...). Some believers may fret about these people because of fear, but the scriptures offer another reason why believers fret over the wicked. According to Psalm 37:1Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
See All... and Proverbs 24:19Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked:
See All..., fretting over the wicked is connected to being envious. Perhaps believers worry about these people so much because there is a deep-rooted desire to be like them. Worry merely makes the sin sound more spiritual.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) Do you know children who have more to play with than you do? God doesn't want us to be upset when we don't have what others have (Galatians 5:26Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
See All...). What we have we get from Him (John 3:27John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
See All...; James 1:17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
See All...). He wants us to be content with what we have (Hebrews 13:5Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
See All...). - What are reasons believers might fret over the wicked? Why do you personally fret over the wicked? Is it possible that you are envious toward them?
- Fretting is the opposite of resting in the Lord and waiting patiently for Him (Psalm 37:7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
See All...). Which will you choose? Will you choose to fret or trust?
