Fools Make a Mock at Sin - Proverbs 14:9
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Fools make a mock at sin. Before one can fully understand this thought, he must have a biblical understanding of the word mock . According to the scripture, to mock is to deceive (Judges 16:10And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.

[30] And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
[31] And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

Men who make light of a statement or event often demonstrate it by a gesture that does that very thing. This behaviour is never to be demonstrated toward sin. God is not to be mocked (Galatians 6:7Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) Jereboam caused Israel to sin (1 Kings 12:20And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
See All..., 26-30). Ahab took Jeroboam’s sins lightly and did worse (1 Kings 16:30-33 [30] And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him. [31] And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him. [32] And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. [33] And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.
See All...; Proverbs 10:23It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

God was not mocked (2 Kings 17:22-23 [22] For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them; [23] Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.

Judah mocked God's messengers and did not get by (2 Chronicles 36:14-20 [14] Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem. [15] And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: [16] But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy. [17] Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand. [18] And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon. [19] And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof. [20] And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:

See All...). - Do you make a mock at sin? Do you mock when the preacher preaches against sin? Do you mock when you read of God’s warnings concerning sin? If so, what kind of person does the Bible suggest that you are?
- According to Jude 1:18How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
See All..., mockers walk after their own ungodly lusts. Think of some people in scripture who fit that description.
