Fellowship with Him
See All...
INTRODUCTION
It is extremely important that we have fellowship with other likeminded believers, but even more important is that we have fellowship with the Lord. The Lord Jesus said that believers should take His yoke upon them (Matthew 11:29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
See All...). A yoke was an instrument used to help two animals work together when plowing. In other words, the Lord was saying that we should serve with Him in our service to Him. In 1 Corinthians 3:9For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
See All..., we learn that "we are labourers together with God." Fellowshipping with the Lord means walking with Him (1 John 1:6-7 [6] If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
[7] But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
See All...), and walking with Him means being in agreement with Him (Amos 3:3Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
See All...). Just as God desired to fellowship with Adam (Genesis 3:8And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
See All...) and Enoch (Genesis 5:22And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
See All...), He desires to have fellowship with us today.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) The Lord made everything (Nehemiah 9:6Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.
See All...) just by speaking (Hebrews 11:3Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
See All...). He knows all about us, even to the numbers of hairs on our head. It's wonderful that He wants us to talk to Him (1 Peter 3:12For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
See All...). The Lord said men ought "always to pray," and Paul said to "pray without ceasing." - Why would God desire to fellowship with us? Is it more beneficial to the Lord or to us? What does this say about the personality of the Lord?
- What areas of our life should be based upon fellowship with the Lord? What are some areas in which we can know Him better by fellowship (hint: see Philippians 3:10The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high.
See All...)?
