Everyone Has a Leader
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Things are not always what they seem. Leadership is an area where this is true. Some people dream of a time in the future when they will have nobody to submit to anymore, but everyone has a leader which they must follow. In the home, the children must submit to the parents (Ephesians 6:1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
See All...), the wife must submit to her husband (Colossians 3:18Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
See All...), and the husband must submit unto the Lord (1 Corinthians 11:3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
See All...). In the world, the people must submit to the government (1 Peter 2:13-14 [13] Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
[14] Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
See All...), and the government must submit to the Lord (1 Peter 3:22Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
See All...). Saved people are responsible to follow the Lord (John 8:42Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
See All...), while lost people follow their father, the Devil (John 8:44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
See All...). Everyone answers to someone else.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) Jonathan, King Saul's son, commanded one thousand soldiers. He was to be the next king, but God chose David to be the next king. Jonathan submitted to the will of God (1 Samuel 23:15-17 [15] And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.
[16] And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.
[17] And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.
See All...). He helped and encouraged David many times. What might have happened if Jonathan wanted to be the king? - Rebellion is often mislabeled as independence. Everyone must be led by someone else. Who is your leader? Whom are you leading? Are you leading and following in a way that pleases the Lord?
- Under whose authority do you operate? Who lives under your authority? Why is it important that a leader be submitted to the right authority?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to build you into a godly leader.
- Thank the Lord for the godly leaders in your life.
