Continuing Stedfast in Fellowship
See All...
INTRODUCTION
The early church thrived in the work of the Lord. People got saved and served the Lord with great zeal. Perhaps the secret to this success was their continuation in fellowship. It is much easier to serve God with someone rather than doing it alone. The Lord Jesus sent out His disciples by twos (Mark 6:7And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
See All...) and the early church followed suit (Acts 13:2As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
See All...). There is great wisdom in fellowship. When one person is wavering in time of temptation, his fellow can encourage him to stay faithful in the Lord’s work. When one person is struggling in the midst of uncertainties, his fellow can remind him of God’s faithfulness. God has given us a great resource in fellowship.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) Nehemiah worked with a group of people to rebuild the wall around the city of Jerusalem. It had been broken down and the gates burned. The wall was finished in fifty-two days even with enemies trying to discourage the work. More can get done sooner when we work together.
- In what ways can it be helpful to serve God with other believers? What are some of the dangers of seeking to serve the Lord alone? How can our results be multiplied by serving with others?
- With whom are you fellowshipping? How do they make you a better servant of the Lord? How do you encourage them to be better servants?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask God to give you some good people with whom to fellowship.
- Ask the Lord to help you continue in fellowship.
