INTRODUCTION

Paul and Barnabas were sent out of the church at Antioch (Acts 13:1-4 [1] Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. [2] As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. [3] And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. [4] So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.
See All...). They were missionaries who sought to win others to the Lord and get them grounded in the Bible. They went on their first journey and returned to Antioch to give a report of the work (Acts 15:30So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:

It was not long before Paul determined that he and Barnabas should make another trip in order to check on the growth of those to whom they had previously ministered (Acts 15:36And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the LORD, and see how they do.
See All...). Barnabas was happy to go, but thought it wise to take John Mark (who had previously quit on Paul and Barnabas). • Have you ever spent a great deal of time serving the Lord with someone only to have the fellowship broken by some kind of strife? What kind of an effect did it have on you and the work?
• Who was wrong in the conflict between Paul and Barnabas? What was the outcome of their conflict? In the end, does it really matter who was right?

• Ask God to protect you from such splits.
• Ask the Lord to give you grace with other believers.
