Communication Yields Words - Job 4:2
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Communication can take place through various means, but most frequently is accomplished by the passing back and forth of words. Often in scripture the words commune and communication are followed by the word saying , which suggests that communication involves someone speaking to another. The more a people group, or individual experiences a breakdown in their understanding of words, the more they will experience a breakdown in communication. If a society or individual grows up without the face to face interaction of other people, that society or individual will lack the ability to communicate. Ultimately, this hinders every facet of life.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) Daniel and his friends were in a contest with others for three years to see who might be the best to serve in the king's palace. They had to be able to communicate to win (Daniel 1:18-20 [18] Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
[19] And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
[20] And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

Jonathan communed with Saul when trying to change Saul's mind about killing David (1 Samuel 19:2-7 [2] But Jonathan Saul's son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself: [3] And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee. [4] And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good: [5] For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause? [6] And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the LORD liveth, he shall not be slain. [7] And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan shewed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.
See All...). - Do you have trouble communicating (face to face using words) with others? Why? Are you able to convey the thoughts of your heart with others using spoken words?
- What modern things have greatly hindered our ability to communicate with others? How does this weaken our ability to stand when confronted with wickedness?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to give you boldness to communicate.
- Ask God to teach you what communication is.
