Communicating Your Faith - Philemon 6

Communicating Your Faith - Philemon 6

INTRODUCTION

We communicate those things which we think are important. If we find something that we genuinely enjoy, we want others to know about it so that they too can enjoy it. Is there anything more important or better than knowing Jesus Christ? Apparently, Philemon communicated his faith to others around him, partly through his actions, but likely through his willingness to speak of his love for the Lord and faith in the Lord. As believers, the Lord has given us a tremendous opportunity to speak to others about our wonderful salvation and the many benefits experienced daily. Paul said of the believers at Rome that their faith was spoken of throughout the whole world (Romans 1:8). It is our duty and privilege to communicate what the Lord has done for us with others.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For children): When Jesus walked on this earth, He healed many people in need. One man was so grateful, he wanted to stay with Jesus. Read Jesus' answer to him in Luke 8:39. This was more needful. We need to tell others what the Lord has done for us.
  • (For everyone):  What are the most common topics in your conversations with others? Do you speak of the Lord often or find Him seldom the topic of discussion? Do you speak to others about their need for salvation or for fellowship with the Lord?
  • Do those around you know that you are saved? Do they know that you love the Lord? If not, why not? Is it possible that you are not communicating your faith like you should?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Ask God to give you boldness to communicate your faith.
  • Ask the Lord to give you a burning desire to speak of Him.
