Benefits of Justification by Faith (Daily Portion 10415)
Scripture Passage:
Romans 5:1-11 This chapter continues to deal with the fact and experience of justification by faith. However, it also begins to describe some of the results or benefits of salvation. Now that a person is justified by faith, what does this do for him?
What Does It Say?
- Being justified, we can rejoice in _________ of the ________ of God.
- The final end of tribulations for the believer is that the _______ of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the ________ __________ which is given unto us.
- For scarcely for a ____________ man will one die.
- Being now justified by his __________ we shall be saved from __________ through Him.
- By Jesus Christ we have now received the _____________.
What Does It Mean?
- Through salvation (justification by faith), we have “peace with God” (v.1). This is the possession of all believers. However, the Bible also speaks of something called the “peace of God.” This is a peace that believers are told to allow to rule in their hearts (Colossians 3:15And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
See All...). It is also taught that “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7
See All...). Try to explain the difference between our peace with God and the peace of God. - The word commend has two prominent definitions. One is to commit to the trust of another; to give over to someone else’s charge. The other meaning is to recommend; to mention as worthy of praise. Explain how both meanings can apply to Romans 5:8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
See All... where we see that “God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” - Romans 5:10For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
See All... states, “For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son…” Colossians 1:21And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
See All... says, “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled.” In what ways are all lost people the enemies of God? What are the characteristics of an enemy? Which of these apply to the lost man?
What Does It Mean to Me?
- One of the blessings of salvation is our “access by faith into this grace wherein we stand” (Romans 5:2By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
See All...). Why is our access to God such a blessed truth? How can we make good use of this access? What else can we learn about our access from the following verses: Ephesians 2:18For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
See All...; Ephesians 3:12In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
See All...; Hebrews 4:16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
See All...; Hebrews 10:19Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
See All.... - Romans 5:3-5 [3] And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
[4] And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
[5] And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
See All... tell how the Christian goes from tribulation to patience to experience to hope to boldness (not ashamed). Explain this process. Give a personal example of how it has worked in you or in someone else.
