Be Ready to Give an Answer
See All...
INTRODUCTION
If a believer lives a life to the glory of God, there will be a time when the world will want to know "a reason of the hope" that lies within. Simon Peter addressed this in a particular situation of times of persecution. When believers were to "suffer for righteousness’ sake" (1 Peter 3:14But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
See All...), the world would want to question their hope. Simon Peter reminded them of the importance of knowing how to answer their persecutors. In like manner, believers ought to know how to answer those that would be curious about the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. How shameful is it that many believers would not even know how to explain the need for, and plan of salvation.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) 1 Timothy 1:1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
See All... says the Lord Jesus Christ is our hope. Paul and Silas were beaten and put into prison. Instead of complaining, they prayed and sang. The jailer saw they had hope and wanted it too. When he asked how to be saved, Paul and Silas were ready with the answer (Acts 16:30-31 [30] And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? [31] And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
See All...). - Do those around you know that you are saved by the grace of God? When is the last time someone saw something in your life that led them to ask you of the "hope that is in you"?
- If someone were to ask you how to be saved, what would you tell them? To what scriptures would you lead them to explain what Christ has done for them and what they need to do to be saved?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to teach you how to be a witness for Him.
- Ask the Lord to help you be diligent knowing the scriptures.
