An Acceptable Meditation - Psalm 19:14
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Meditation can be a godly practice, but can also express the exact opposite connotation. Nonbelievers go to great lengths to push their concept of meditation upon the world, but their meditation remains ungodly in every aspect. Rather than asking whether or not we should meditate, we should ask upon what we should meditate. Perhaps the Christian’s most important question in this matter should be, “Is my meditation pleasing to the Lord?” Interestingly, David, a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
See All...), prayed, “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD” (Psalm 19:14Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
See All...). David wanted to insure that his meditation was acceptable to the Lord.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For children): Philippians 4:8
See All... tells us to think about good and pleasant things. Thinking about God in the right way will always please Him. Read Psalm 104:34My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
See All.... How is thinking about God sweet? What has He done for us? - (For everyone): Is your meditation acceptable to the Lord? Are the subjects of your thoughts things that would please the Lord or displease Him? How could you fix this problem?
- What are some things upon which we could meditate that would prove to be acceptable in the eyes of the Lord? How often do you meditate upon those things?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to help your meditation to be acceptable to Him.
- Ask the Lord to change your thought life if need be.
