A Work of the Flesh - Galatians 5:16-21
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Many have erroneously suggested that witchcraft is a spiritual gift, but the Bible plainly declares it to be a work of the flesh. As such, it is anti-Spirit and lustful. It is akin to adultery, idolatry, hatred, heresies, murders, and drunkenness. No Christian who finds joy in these practices can rightly claim to be led of the Spirit, and so it is with Christians involved in witchcraft at any level. Unfortunately, many beguiled saints have grown increasingly accepting of witchcraft, at times even suggesting there are hidden scriptural messages. Men should not be deceived into thinking that God will partner with a work of the flesh to accomplish His work.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) God hates witchcraft (Exodus 22:18Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
See All...; Micah 5:12And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:
See All...). If you are attracted to it, it is not God doing it (James 1:13Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
See All...) but your own desires and longings (James 1:14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
See All...). Remember, in God's eyes there is no such thing as a "good" witch, no matter how the world makes them appear (1 John 4:1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
See All...). - No man could rightly suggest that God led him to get drunk or commit adultery to any extent. Why would the same thing be true of witchcraft?
- The works of the flesh have bombarded man’s entertainment. Do you find witchcraft, adultery, and drunkenness entertaining?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask God to help you rid your life of the works of the flesh.
- Ask God to give you wisdom to know what is right and wrong.
