A Threefold Witness

A Threefold Witness - Acts 20:20

INTRODUCTION

The message of a gospel witness is a narrow message, but it can be distributed in a variety of ways. The apostle Paul provided three means by which he ministered the word: he shewed them, he taught them publickly, and he ministered the word from house to house. These three categories still exist today. Believers can preach the gospel in church services, in publick settings, and from house to house. Each believer ought to take part in at least one form of witnessing. Even within these areas the gospel can be spread with audible voice or in print. No believer has any excuse not to give the gospel to others. Every believer can witness, even if it is through the distribution of gospel tracts.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children) When Andrew met the Lord, he went and told his brother Simon (John 1:40-42). Philip told his friend Nathanael (John 1:45-46). We need to tell our family and friends about the Lord. Could you invite someone to church so they could hear the word of God?
  • What is the purpose of each category that Paul implemented in his ministry? Why is it important that believers take part in ministering to others in publick and from house to house?
  • How many lost people visit your services at church on a weekly basis? How many lost people do not even think of attending your services? How can you reach these people with the gospel?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Ask the Lord to help you witness in each way.
  • Ask God to give you boldness to invite lost people to church.
