A Praying Man - Job 1:5
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Job’s home was not a perfect home, but God’s testimony of Job was one of faithfulness. One area of Job’s faithfulness that is obvious is the area of prayer. Job continually went before the Lord with offerings and prayer on behalf of his children. One might suggest that this would be easy if the family loved and served God, but the scriptures seem to indicate that Job was faithful in spite of a wife who mocked his faithfulness (Job 2:9Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) King David fasted and prayed for a sick child (2 Samuel 12:15-16 [15] And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.
[16] David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.

See All...). Manoah prayed that God would direct him how to raise his unborn child (Judges 13:8Then Manoah intreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.
See All...). - Are you the head of your home? If so, do you regularly pray for your wife and/or children? How could Job’s wife have better handled the tragedies in their family?
- Read the account of the father in Matthew 17:14-18 [14] And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
[15] Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
[16] And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
[17] Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
[18] And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
See All.... What did the father do to help his son? How could this be a picture of a father praying for his child?
