A God of Truth - Deuteronomy 32:4
See All...
INTRODUCTION
The God of the Bible is a God of truth. All His "commandments are truth" (Psalm 119:151Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth.
See All...), and "all his works are done in truth" (Psalm 33:4For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
See All...). He is "plenteous in mercy and truth" (Psalm 86:15But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
See All...), so much so that the Bible says His "mercy is great unto the heavens," and His "truth unto the clouds" (Psalm 57:10For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.
See All...). Absolutely nothing about the Lord is false. It has already been shown that the Father is a "God of truth" (Deuteronomy 32:4He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
See All...), but likewise the Bible says the Son is "the truth" (John 14:6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
See All...) and the Spirit is "the Spirit of truth" (John 14:17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
See All...). The great enemy of truth, on the other hand, is the Devil. The Bible says of him, "there is no truth in him" (John 8:44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) God is true (Exodus 34:6And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
See All...; John 1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
See All..., 14; 1 John 5:6This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
See All...). He cannot lie (Titus 1:2In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
See All...; Hebrews 6:18That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
See All...:a). Satan lies and deceives (Luke 8:12Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
See All...; 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 [3] But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: [4] In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
See All...; 2 Corinthians 11:13-14 [13] For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. [14] And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
See All...; 2 Thessalonians 2:9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
See All...). Whom would you rather serve (Joshua 24:15And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
See All...)? - Who is the source of all truth? Why is this so important to know? Are we able to trust what the Lord has said? Are we able to trust that all the Lord has done is done in truth?
- The Devil is the enemy of the truth. What has the Devil done in your life to try to discourage you from hearing, loving, and obeying the truth?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Thank God for the fact that He can be trusted!
- Ask the Lord to help you discern lies from the truth.
