The Two Babylons
There are two different responses to the destruction of Babylon. Which side will you be on?
The Abomination of Desolation
Abomination – that which is hateful and disgusting, especially to God
Blessed Are Those Servants
The servant must understand his relationship to His Lord. The Lord is the master of the house and He rules it without challenge. The servant exists for the needs and service of the Lord. John 13:16 states, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.”
The Call to Renew Construction
The work on the temple has stopped because of opposition. However, even when the opposition has died down, the people do not get back to God’s house. They are concerned about building their own houses, working their own fields, taking care of their own stomachs. But things are not going well. It seems that no one can get ahead. Now comes two prophets of God: Haggai and Zechariah. They point out the real problem: they left the work of the Lord to feed themselves. Therefore, God has not blessed them. The answer is to return to the original work to which they were called: the rebuilding of the temple. The people hear the words of the prophets and they respond. The work on the temple resumes.
The Bible Doctrine of Preservation
Have you ever wondered if the Bible that you have has errors in it? Can we find the word of God today or has it been lost in the original languages? Is it even important to know whether we can find the words of God? Let's allow the Bible speak for itself.
Unrighteous Judgment in the Land (Daily Portion 10419)
This psalm laments the lack of righteous judgment in the world. The judges judge unjustly and the poor and needy are afflicted. But God promises to judge the judges. He will destroy the unrighteous judges and will righteously judge the inhabitants of the earth Himself. Then, all judgment will be righteous judgment.
Work - Blessing or Curse
The work place has changed beyond all recognition since the Bible was written, so the question is, “Is it still relevant today for the modern worker?” I believe the answer is clearly yes, and God willing as we look at the scriptures you will see why.
Thank the Baptists for Freedom of Religion
Persecution of the Baptists did not cease with the Roman Catholic church but it continued with the Protestants. Baptists, however, stood for liberty of conscience, not only for themselves, but they also stood for the freedom of Catholics, Jews, Turks, Protestants and heretics to worship God according to their conscience without the intervention of government.
