INTRODUCTION

The Lord gives specific commandments to the husband and wife. The Lord, knowing that man naturally loves only himself, commanded the man to "love" his wife as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
See All...). And knowing that a woman would not naturally desire to submit, the Lord commanded the wife to submit unto her own husband as unto the Lord. This does not suggest that she go along with her husband so long as she be in agreement with his decision, neither does it mean that she can never give her husband her opinion in the decision making process. But, in the end, she follows her husband’s leading trusting the Lord to bless her faithfulness.

• (For smaller children) To submit means to willingly put yourself under the authority of another. According to Titus 2:5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

When God lays down the order in the home (Genesis 3:16Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

• What happens when a godly lady submits to her godly husband? What could happen when a godly lady submits to an ungodly husband (1 Peter 3:1-4 [1] Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; [2] While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
