These Things Give in Charge - 1 Timothy 5:1-7

These Things Give in Charge - 1 Timothy 5:1-7

INTRODUCTION

The preacher has many responsibilities, but one of those is to charge believers to live their lives in such a way that they may live their lives void of blame. In this particular case, Paul gave Timothy instructions for how to treat other believers (especially widows), but the scripture is filled with much instruction dealing with other subjects also meant to help the believer avoid just blame. The man of God is called upon to teach and preach these truths in order to guide the believer, while the believer is called upon to believe the words of God and live in accordance to those words in such a way as to not bring reproach upon the name or cause of Christ.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children) Read Titus 2:1, 11-12, 15. Paul told Titus to make sure the people got the message. He was to emphasize the message constantly (Titus 3:8). Believers need to hear and obey (Ephesians 4:1-3; Hebrews 13:17; James 1:22).
  • Do you heed the commandments of God in such a way as to avoid blame? Do you heed the Lord’s leading through the preaching and teaching of His word?
  • The Lord gave us His word to help us live lives void of blame. Do you put yourself in positions to hear and read those words so that they can properly work in your life?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Thank God for those who instruct you through the word of God.
  • Ask God to give you wisdom to heed His words.

HYMN
