The Soul that Loveth Violence - Psalm 11:5
See All...
INTRODUCTION
At times it may appear as though the wicked have the upper hand on the righteous, but the LORD knows what is happening in the world, and His soul hateth "him that loveth violence." "The LORD trieth the righteous" and it is often accomplished through the wickedness of the wicked. They "bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart" (Psalm 11:2For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
See All...), but all of this is allowed by the Lord. Why? Because He wants to see what is in the hearts of those who claim to fear Him. In the end, the Lord will take care of His own, but will "rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest" upon the wicked (Psalm 11:6Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
See All...).
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) Psalm 37:1Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
See All... tells us not to fret or worry because of those who do evil. They will not have a happy ending (Psalm 9:17The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
See All...a; Psalm 37:10For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
See All..., 12, 14-15; Proverbs 24:19-20 [19] Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked: [20] For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
See All...). God wants them to repent (2 Peter 3:9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
See All...). We should want them to be saved, too. - Saved people ought to be a peaceable people. Have you trusted Christ as your Saviour? If so, are you enjoying the fruit of the Spirit, which includes "peace" (Galatians 5:22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
See All...)? - Would you rather face temporary trials or eternal wrath? If you are saved, you will have times of difficulty, but will be rewarded in the end. How should this truth help you fight on for the Lord?
