INTRODUCTION

With all the difficult challenges that a woman faces in the home, it should be of no surprise that the Lord gave multiple warnings about a contentious spirit. She may spend her life serving others with little to no thanks. She may honour and submit to a husband who deserves little honour or authority. If she does not continually walk with the Lord, she can become disenfranchised with the Lord and with her duties as a mother and wife. She might begin to be contentious (Proverbs 21:9It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

• (For smaller children) A woman with a meek and quiet spirit "is in the sight of God of great price" (1 Peter 3:4But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
  See All...). A hateful, argumentative woman disquiets (takes peace away from) the earth (Proverbs 30:21For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:

• Is there peace or contention in your home? Have you done things as a husband or child to cause the wife/mother in your home to grow weary in well doing?
• Are you a wife and mother? Are you contentious with those in your home? What happened to cause you to become grievous in your obedience to God’s commands?

• Ask God to help you walk with Him in the good times and bad.
• Thank God for giving you a Christian home.
