Joy Cometh in the Morning - Psalm 30:5

Joy Cometh in the Morning - Psalm 30:5

INTRODUCTION

However long this life may seem, it is merely "a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away" (James 4:14). In like manner, the trials of life are temporary and should be seen as such. The apostle Paul stated that the difficulties of life are merely a "light affliction, which is but for a moment" (2 Corinthians 4:17). He likewise declared that "the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us" (Romans 8:18). The Bible paints this truth again in the thirtieth psalm when it said, "weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning" (Psalm 30:5). Truly, joy comes in the morning!

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children) Job did not know what his outcome would be in this life, but he had hope (Job 19:25-27; Job 23:10). Peter says our trials are for a season and we can rejoice now at the thought of what awaits us (1 Peter 1:3-9).
  • How does the knowledge that trials are temporary help your ability to endure them? How can you face them with joy knowing that you will have nothing but joy when in the presence of the Lord?
  • Read Psalm 66:12. How could this verse be spiritually true of your present and your future?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Ask God to help you apply these truths when faced with trials.
  • Thank the Lord for the joys that await you in heaven.
