I Am Ready to Die - Acts 21:13
See All...
INTRODUCTION
It has been said that an individual is not truly ready to live until he is ready to die. There are many reasons why one might not be ready to die (i.e., sin, regret, desire to remain with loved ones, fear, etc.). As a believer, one should not fear death. He or she should also realize that "to be absent from the body" is "to be present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
See All...). Death is only a means by which the believer enters the truest form of life. Paul understood this truth and was willing to die if it were the will of God. As it turned out, it was not Paul’s time to die, but when that time came Paul said, "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand" (2 Timothy 4:6For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) God wants us to concentrate on living for Him (Romans 12:1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
See All...). But we all have an appointment with death (Hebrews 9:27And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
See All...) and it could come anytime (1 Samuel 20:3And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.
See All...b). We should be ready and not be afraid (Psalm 23:4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
See All...; Proverbs 14:32The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
See All...b; Romans 8:38-39 [38] For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, [39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
See All...). - Are you ready to die should your time come? If not, why? Have you trusted Christ as your Saviour? Is there something you need to do for the Lord? Is there some unconfessed sin in your life that you need to take to the Lord?
- Why is it so important to live in such a way as to always be ready to die? How would this help you live a holier life?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask God to help you be prepared to die.
- Ask the Lord to help you with any sin or regrets you may have.
