I Am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made - Psalm 139:14
See All...
INTRODUCTION
The Lord took great pains in ensuring that the details of creation were just as He desired. He left nothing to itself in hopes that it would turn out, but knowingly cared for the smallest of details. David understood this truth, but declared that this care went beyond the initial creation. Not only had God created and cared for the initial creation, but David himself was "fearfully and wonderfully made." In order to add some context to his statement, David acknowledged that he spoke of the time when he was in his mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
See All...). If this were not enough, several other passages identify the Lord as the former of the child within the womb (Isaiah 44:2Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.
See All..., 24; Isaiah 49:5And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) The Lord made each and everyone of us (Deuteronomy 32:18Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.
See All...; Job 31:15Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?
See All...; Psalm 100:3Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
See All...; Psalm 119:73Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.
See All...a). He has a plan for us even before we are born. Consider these examples: Genesis 25:21-24 [21] And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. [22] And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD. [23] And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger. [24] And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
See All...; Matthew 1:21-23 [21] And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. [22] Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, [23] Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
See All...; Luke 1:13-17 [13] But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. [14] And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. [15] For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. [16] And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. [17] And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
See All.... - Why would mankind spend so much time trying to deny the existence of the very God who formed them? What would be the purpose in removing the presence and authority of God?
- What involvement did the Lord have in your creation and birth? Why did He place you in your family? What did they do right? What did they do wrong? How has that developed who your are?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Thank God for protecting you in the womb.
- Thank the Lord for the opportunity to live.
