Hope Pleases the Lord - Psalm 147:11

Hope Pleases the Lord - Psalm 147:11

INTRODUCTION

Mankind has developed a vast number of rules by which one must please the Lord, but the reality is that God most desires for man to trust Him, both now (faith) and for the future (hope). It speaks volumes to the Lord when a man places his hopes solely in Him and His word. Man was created for one purpose and one purpose only, to please the One who brought him into this world in the first place (Revelation 4:11). This purpose is impossible to fulfill if one does not have faith (Hebrews 11:6) and hope in the Lord (Psalm 147:11). How could one please the Lord, unless he daily expects the Lord’s return and hopes in His word!

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children) The centurion had hope in the Lord and His word. He knew Jesus could heal His sick servant but wanted Him to just speak from where He was instead of coming to his house. Jesus gave him a compliment (Matthew 8:5-10, 13).
  • Why is it that hope is so important to the Lord? What message does hope send to the Lord? What does it suggest when a believer loses hope?
  • Do you desire to please the Lord? Look up some Bible verses that talk about pleasing God. What did you learn from those verses?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Ask the Lord to teach you the importance of hope.
  • Ask God to help you please Him.
