Every Fool Will Be Meddling - Proverbs 20:3
See All...
INTRODUCTION
The world has convinced mankind that it is manly to start a fight, and that only the cowardly seek to cease from strife. As is almost always the case, the world’s way of thinking is completely opposite of the scriptural teaching. According to scripture, "It is an honour for a man to cease from strife." This means the most honourable of men are the ones who, because of wisdom, are able bring the strife to a peaceable end without the need for war. A fool, however, continues to meddle until a fight breaks out. The Bible clearly states the dangers of meddling, but a fool chooses to ignore the scriptural warning, and he does so to his own hurt.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) A fool keeps on and on with his words hoping to provoke a fight (Proverbs 18:6A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.
See All...). The best way to prevent a fight is with kind words (Proverbs 15:1A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
See All...; Proverbs 25:15By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
See All...b). - How would you describe the Lord’s viewpoint on meddling? What verses would you use to support your thoughts? What should you do if presently meddling in the affairs of others?
- Why does the Bible say that a "fool" will continue to meddle? What makes a person a fool? Does a fool choose to do what he wants regardless of the warnings of wisdom?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to keep you from being a fool.
- Ask God for the wisdom necessary to cease from strife.
