Corrupt Communication Corrupts - 1 Corinthians 15:33
See All...
INTRODUCTION
The world has recently been bombarded with new means of communication, yet people are enjoying true communication less than ever before. Unfortunately, godly communication has been replaced with shallow, corrupt communication. According to scripture, a person with "good manners" will not long maintain those manners once he or she has been introduced to "evil communications." This is why Paul warned the believers at Ephesus to "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of" their mouths (Ephesians 4:29Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
See All...). Believers must guard their mouths and ears, for what they say and hear now will eventually be what they are in their hearts.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) We need to pray like David to get help with our words (Psalm 19:14Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
See All...; Psalm 141:3Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
See All...). We can know right speech (Proverbs 10:32The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.
See All...). A good practice is to think before you speak (Proverbs 15:28The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
See All...). - How has your language improved because of the modern means of communication? How has the corruptness of the modern means of communication hurt the purity of your walk before the Lord?
- A few generations back, people understood how to communicate properly and they were respectful. How has that changed with the introduction of modern means of communication?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to clean up your communication.
- Ask the Lord to guard your “good manners.”
